I will show you your grades on a regular basis, but be sure to keep track of your own grade in case mistakes are made.

Late Work Policy:

You have one week from the due date to complete your late assignment for a maximum of 50%.  After one week, your grade will be a zero.

Assignments:

Any daily assignment below a 70% may be redone, excluding late papers.  However, the best grade you can earn on a redo is 70%.  You may also re-take tests below a 65%....again; the best you can get on a test re-take is a 65%.  I don’t have extra-credit options because of the redo policy stated above.  Cheating on any type of assignment will result in an automatic 0% for that particular assignment.

Accelerated Math (AM):

Accelerated Math (AM) is a program that allows you to work independently and at your own pace.  All students will work one day a week on AM, usually Friday’s.  You may also work on AM during study hall.  I do set forth criteria and goals for you to reach.  You must take at least two AM tests per quarter.  Depending on the level of work, I may increase this for each quarter.  Don’t fall behind…students tend to put this off and scramble at the end of the quarter to get it done.  AM is 10% of your quarter grade and needs to be taken seriously.

Organization:

Come to class prepared.  You must have your book, pencil, pen, paper, homework, calculator and any other necessary material upon entering class.  If you forget something in your locker the first month of school I will understand, but after that very rarely will I let you leave the room to go to your locker.  The reason for this is we need to start class right away and I don’t want you to miss any important information that we will be covering.

Tardiness:

Students will be considered tardy if not in the classroom by the time the period starts (tardy bell).  Tardiness will be handled according to the student handbook.  I will tell you each time I count you tardy so that it doesn’t come as a surprise later on.

Student Expectations:

  1. Try your hardest!!
  2. Be on time – allow me to teach and others to learn.
  3. Come to class prepared (book, paper, completed assignment, calculator, etc.)
  4. Use only pencil on assignments (NO pen!!).
  5. Show all your work!
  6. Use appropriate language.
  7. Listen carefully and follow instructions.
  8. Respect others, school, and personal property.
  9. Cell phones must be turned off when in class.  I will follow school policy.

Classroom Behaviors:

All students must abide by the student handbook.  Appropriate behavior is always expected.  Misbehavior will be handled in the classroom unless certain actions, at my discretion, need to be dealt with immediately by the Principal.

Extra Help:

I am here for you!  If you need extra help, I am here at 8am until 4pm.  Don’t be afraid to get help...there are no “dumb” questions.  You can also come to get help during Guided Study Hall.  This is a great opportunity to get your questions answered!

Absenteeism:

In the event that a student is gone for an illness or appointment, it will be the student’s responsibility to inquire about any missed assignments.  Please visit with me ahead of time if you know you will be absent or as soon as possible upon your return.  There is a policy on make-up work….you will have two days to get your work done for the first day you are absent, but then you will have only one day for each additional day you are absent.

If you know that you will be absent for a sporting event, be sure to turn in assignments that will be due for the day that you will miss BEFORE you leave.  Assignments missed while you are actually away participating in an event must be ready to turn in by the same due date as the rest of the class-NO EXCEPTION
